Because the power to arrest is a serious intrusion, the law reserves it for graver crimes.

How Do I File an FIR at Kargil Police Station?
Everything the police can lawfully do about a serious crime begins with one document: the First Information Report. Do My Rights Change Inside a Police Station?
Your rights do not stop at the station door — that is where they matter most. Articles 20 and 21, reinforced by the Supreme Court in D.K. Basu v.
